by Section 38 "marriages between persons neither of whom professes the Christian religion duly
celebrated according to the personal law and
religion of the parties" were excepted. The
marriage in the present oase, being celebrated
according to Mahometan rites, comes within this
exception, and, the original marriage papera
having been lost, there seems to be no means of
proving the marriage except by statutory declarations
made by persons present at the ceremony. A joint
declaration was made at this Consulate-General
on 6th. September, 1989, by four witnesses,
a certified oopy is enclosed herewith.

I have no reason to suppose that the a tatement s
contained in these declarations are other than
correct, and I venture, therefore, to submit this
application for your favourable consideration.
